Made from natural soy wax and housed in Japanese ceramic cups, our candles will transport you to Japan through ambience and scent. Currently available in three sizes, our candles are made-to-order and use wooden wicks, that burn evenly and create a very subtle crackle sound when lit.

Our candles are housed in ceramic cups that are sourced and made in Japan, and highlight Japanese craftsmanship. Due to their artisan handcrafted nature, our ceramic vessels may vary in size, glaze and texture. Each scent is a reminder of a moment in time and a specific space during our travels and experiences in Japan.

Every aspect of our candles has been carefully chosen and curated to create an unforgettable sensory experience within a space.

120g / 4.2oz • Burn approx. 18 hours

Our candles are hand-poured with care and and attention to detail. We ensure all candles made are consistent and provided in great condition.

Here are some general care instructions:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Ensure your burning candle is placed on a heat-resistant surface
  • Never move a burning candle
  • Store your candle in a cool, dry place, and away from direct sunlight

Additionally, to ensure you get the most out of your candle, here are some things we suggest:

  • Before every use, trim the wick to 3-5mm to prevent the wick from smoking, and ensure a clean, even burn.
  • On first use, allow the candle wax to burn all the way to the edge of the vessel. This will help prevent tunneling.
  • Avoid burning your candle for more than 2-3 hours at a time.
  • Once wax level has reached 1-1.5cm from the bottom of the vessel, please discontinue use.
  • If you’re trimming the wick after use, please allow the wax to cool and harden first.

Once you’re finished with your candle, you’re now free to use it for whatever you wish.

To wash the leftover wax and fragrance, simply using hot water and detergent.

Great Father’s Day gift !

Gifted this to my dad who loves Japanese culture and fragrances, especially Hinoki. All three fragrances I ordered (Hinoki, Arashiyama & Karuizawa) are beautifully scented and the vessels they came in a very reminiscent of Japan. I would very much recommend gifting these or even getting one for yourself (which I think I might do soon!). Thanks Team Airisu :)

Arashiyama

Hinoki

Sakura

Keiu

Karuizawa

Embark on a journey to Arashiyama, where the essence of tranquility unfolds in a bamboo grove. Immerse yourself in the peaceful embrace of this candle, where sweet and citrusy top notes create the sensation of sipping a fresh cup of tea, while a lingering floral freshness invites you to linger in the serene ambiance.

A moment with Hinoki will transform your space into an atmospheric forest bathing experience. Its warm, woodsy, and earthy notes are reminiscent of a traditional Japanese temple tucked away in the mountains, or a wooden bath found at a ryokan with the purest natural spring water.

Sakura captures the ephemeral beauty of spring in Japan and creates a moment of peace and tranquillity from the busyness of everyday life. Its bright, welcoming, and fresh floral scent encapsulates the aroma of a park snowed in cherry blossom petals on a sunny day.

Like the sudden spring rain in the city, Keiu, which means "welcome rain," will refresh your senses and help you find peace. Its cool, clean, and floral scent is like a much-needed rain shower that will wash away your stress and introduce calm to a space.

Echoing the harmonious mist of trees in Karuizawa, this scent is both refined and relaxed, delivering a unique freshness — crisp with a hint of pine.

FAQ

We schedule our crafting time every Wednesday and Friday, and candles require approximately 2-4 days of production time. Once produced and processed, it will take an additional 5-10 working business days to arrive at its destination.

Because our products are made-to-order, they require time to be made and cured.

When burning your candle for the first time, allow the candle to burn all to the edge of the vessel, this will prevent your candle from tunneling around the wick of your next burn.

To get the best out of our candle, we recommend:

  • Trim the wick to 3-5mm before every use to prevent the wick from smoking to ensure a clean and even burn
  • Store your candle in a cool, dry place and away form direct sunlight
  • Once wax level has reached 1-1.5cm from the bottom of the vessel, fill the vessel with boiling water leaving space at the top and let it sit for a few minutes to melt the remaining wax, which will float to the surface. While warm, use a fork to dislodge and lift the wick sticker from the centre. Discard water and wax in the bin, as wax will clog a drain. Use warm water and soap to clean your vessel, once dry it can be re-purposed and re-used

The burn time varies based on the size of the candle.

We currently have 3 vessel sizes to choose from:

Proper care and maintenance, such as trimming the wick, can extend the burn time.
